The new framework for grassroots rugby league which was to be implemented by the NRL for the 2023 season and beyond has been delayed following significant backlash from the local rugby league community.

Alongside all local clubs on the peninsula, the Narrabeen Sharks advised the Manly Warringah Junior Rugby League Club that it was against the framework which would see the awarding of competition points until the age of 13 and tackling until midway through the under 7. New South Wales Rugby League was advised of the decision and has since delayed the plan’s implementation.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported the NRL’s decision in its article published on 10th February which can be read here
